Polaroid Love: Andy Warhol the Godfather of Instagram?

The instant cameras, widely known as Polaroid cameras, started a revolution in the world of photography as they allowed people to catch their best moments with a snap!

Polaroid pictures are still surviving in the midst of the modern technologies and the industry of photography and photo-editing. The authenticity of these pictures lies probably in the illusion of the faded out quality of pictures, in the classic white borders where you can add a name or a date, and above all in the facility of photo processing. Fujifilm is now the only remaining provider of Polaroid (instant photo) films and the manufacturer of the new Polaroid camera Instax.

“A picture means I know where I was every minute. That’s why I take pictures. It’s a visual diary.” Andy Warhol

The father of the visual pop-art had explored almost every single aspect of the visual arts between the 1950's and the 1980's. Warhol's famous Polaroids of celebrities are still available in a photobook for sale here and still beats most of instagram users with the original collection of the friends' portraits that he amassed along with his auto-portraits.

Here is an extract of his collection:
